Why Charlestown?
Welcome to our 9:45am service!
Our morning service is a blend of traditional hymns, modern songs, Bible based sermons, and great morning tea! When you come to one of our services, you’ll find:
– Good Bible teaching. We’d like to think that Stephen does a good sermon, but we’ll invite you along so you can hear it yourself!
– Something for the kids. We have kids church from 3 years up, and creche leaders for the little ones 6 months and older.
– Bible Reading & Prayer. We start every sermon with the section of scripture we are looking at, as well as prayer to prepare us for hearing God’s word.
– Fellowship. Our morning service always concludes with a cuppa and a morning tea spread – this is a great opportunity to connect in with members of the church, and find out more about who we are and what we do. We also have several Bible study groups, walking groups and activities for young, old, and skill specific activities too!
What happens during the service?
Singing & Kids Church
We offer uplifting music– some well known, some Presbyterian classics, but most importantly, we sing together. The kids are welcome to join our kids church program.
Bible Reading & Prayer
We always read the passage we are going to hear about in the sermon. We also pray for a country facing persecution, affairs in our country, and local issues.
Sermon
Our sermon is prepared by one of our ministers, who have spent the week thinking and praying about the passage we read at the beginning of the service.
What if?
I have kids?
During our Sunday morning services, we strive to create a safe and fun environment for your children. Children join in for the early part of the church service and then leave for Kids Church part way through. All helpers have a “Working With Children Check” accreditation. Children from children from 0 – year 8 enjoy classes among kids of similar ages to learn about God and His great love. We also have crèche facilities.
I can’t sing or don’t know the words?
We love great music that honours and glorifies God. You will enjoy the exciting way that we worship our Lord through heartfelt singing at each service.
Our songs include both traditional hymns and more modern songs that honour God in a worshipful way.
We display the words during the songs. If you feel comfortable, join with us!
you ask for money?
If you’re new to Charlestown Presbyterian Church we ask nothing from you. You are our guest – supporting our church is for regular members.
I don’t have ‘church clothes’?
There is no dress code at Charlestown Presbyterian Church, for members or guests.
Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in a smart casual way; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable on your visit here at Charlestown Presbyterian.
it’s my first time?
If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you, have you stand up, or ask you to give money to our church.
We know that many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” for a while—and that’s fine with us!

i’m running late?
That’s ok! There’s always a seat available. We start at 9:45am, with most services running for about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
