in your Christian life at Charlestown
At Charlestown Presbyterian Church we love kids, because Jesus loves kids. All our kids ministries are about helping kids and families connect with Jesus and grow in their love and service of him.
Some of our kids’ ministries…
Kids Church is a fun and engaging kids program run during our 10.30am service. Each Kids Church team has a bunch of committed leaders who love Jesus and love kids. Kids Church is for all kids up to grade 6.
Kids start in the service with their families before heading out to Kids Church. Kids Church groups usually involves some games, Bible teaching, discussion, prayer and craft.
Sparklers Playgroup is a mid-week ministry for families and their small kids, and is great for parents as well as kids. We provide a safe place for children and their families to grow through play, stories, and music. It is a place where families can connect with each other, connect to our church community, and connect to Jesus. Playtime Connect is for families with kids from birth through to school.
Charlestown Presbyterian Church has a dynamic youth community with a diversity of young people following Jesus together. All our youth ministries are about helping youth connect with Jesus and grow in their love and service of him.
Impact Youth Group
Impact is a vibrant and engaging youth program designed to grow our teens as followers of Jesus. Impact meets weekly on Friday nights during the school term from 7pm-9pm. The night is made up of games, bible study, discussion, prayer and food. It’s fun, it’s social and it’s interactive. Anyone in year 7-12 is welcome.
Thrive is a small group for those in year 7-8 which runs in conjunction with our CPC Sunday morning church Kid’s church program. They meet to encourage each other to follow Jesus through studying the bible, discussion and prayer.
Senior Youth Bible Study
SYBS is designed to spur on and equip our older teens as followers of Jesus. They meet to study God’s Word, discuss, think and pray for each other. It runs fortnightly during the school term from 4.15-5pm and is open to those in year 10-12
At CPC we have a community of young people making the transition from high school to adult life together. On Sundays the 6pm service is the service we attend. We call it Sunday@6.
Young Adults Small Group
Our young adults meet on Tuesday nights in a small group to study God’s Word, discuss it and pray for each other as we seek to follow Jesus the whole of our adult lives.
Men & Women
We run activities for everyone, but also events specifically for men and for women.
We make attending the Hunter Gospel Ministries, Women of Truth and Hunter Men’s Conventions a priority each year. We also run men’s social and evangelistic times (BBQ’s, Bowls and Butcher Nights) as well as Women’s social and outreach events (Coffee, High Teas and Gingerbread House Making Evenings).
Throughout the year our men get together for a variety of activities, like breakfast at the beach, fishing, or a BBQ. Many of our men go each year to the Hunter Men’s Convention where we have top class speakers who help us to grow in our faith.
Men's Small Group
Men’s bible study meets on Tuesday evenings. Our blokes love to encourage each other to press on in following Jesus and serving Him in every aspect of their lives.
Our women get together for various events – sometimes purely social, sometimes for ministry training, or an outreach or teaching event, but always with lots of fun and good food. Our women also attend the annual Hunter Women of Truth conference.
Women's Small Groups
We have several women’s groups, some during the day and some in the evening, but they all meet to encourage our women to press on in following Jesus and serving Him.
Charlestown Presbyterian Church is fortunate to have a wide range of regular attenders from 0-95. Most of our retirees are actively involved in our regular activities such as Sparklers Play Group, Women’s and Men’s Ministries, Small Groups and Outreach Events.
On top of this, once a month we run a group called JOY (Just Older Youth).
JOY is a simple concept in that each month we meet at a local coffee shop for fellowship and mutual encouragement. Once a term we run activities such as day trips, cards, singalongs, lunches where we can invite others along so that they can share in our JOY.
