In Ezra chapter 1 we see an epic journey. As 40,000 people travelled from Babylon to Jerusalem. From exile to freedom. They were going home after almost 70 years of being displaced as refugees. You see in 587BC the people of Judah had been defeated in battle by the Babylonians. Jerusalem has been completely destroyed and the best and the brightest deported to Babylonia. But now in the first year of Cyrus, King of Persia, in 539BC they were finally coming home. But why were they coming home? Because God was stirring up their hearts.
