The book of Hebrews is telling us that despite their similarities the old covenant has been superseded by the new covenant. It has changed everything. Now both covenants had the same aim – to bring people into a relationship with God. But they were not the same, they were different and in chapter 8 of the book of Hebrews we see how the new is so much better than the old.
