Obadiah is all about being ready for that day. For the word ‘day’ appears in this very short book 12 times in just 21 verses. And its message centres around three days in particular. Today, where the prophet speaks judgement on the people of Edom. Yesterday where he talks about what they did to deserve such judgement and tomorrow when in the midst of judgement, we find a message of hope. For in this book, today is the day of doom for Edom. Because yesterday was the day of destruction that came to Jacob. But tomorrow will bring in the day of the divine for all those who put their hope in the Lord.
